the good:
- Location — the property is right on the Chesapeake and has great water views. In addition, there are lakes on the property
- Multiple types of campsites — They have multiple types of campsites that can be rented including ones facing the beach. There are multiple RV lots that can accommodate many sizes and various types of cabins, etc that can be rented
- Amenities — This property features a restaurant, a general store, a bait and tackle shop, golf cart rentals, bike rentals, paddle boat rentals, kayak rentals, propane refill, etc. There are multiple beaches to enjoy on property as well. They also offer charter fishing
- Activities — There are four fishing piers, 5 swimming pools, a mini golf course, a mini water park, and a jump park. You never run out of things to do here
the bad:
- Price — Some may say the rates are high but they do offer a lot of specials at various times throughout the year
- RV sites closer to the beach are not full hookups — many sites that face the beach are water and electric hookups only
the summary:
The Atlantic Ocean offers some of the best camping and fishing locations this country has to offer. One of the most relaxing places to experience the Atlantic is on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The Eastern Shore has many beaches, camping sites and fishing locations. One of my wife and I’s favorite locations to visit there is Sun Outdoors RV Resort (used to be called Cherrystone) in Cape Charles, Virginia. The drive to the Eastern Shore offers beautiful views of the Atlantic as you drive across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
There is nothing but water on both sides and above you as you go through the various tunnels. Once you arrive at Sun Outdoors RV result everything you need is there on site. They have a corner store, resturant, laundry, propane refill and a fishing bait and tackle shop. The campsites are not paved but they are level and can be reserved wth various views of the ocean. This particular resort has plenty of activities including multiple fishing peirs, paddle boats, walking trails, sports courts and kayaks that can be rented. You can also rent a golf cart to travel around the property.
Our favorite lot in the park faces the Atlantic Ocean and is near the fishing peir. Many of the sites near the beach offer electric and water hookups only. There are other full hokup sites on the property. At night you can hear the waves of the ocean as you sleep. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing over the ocean. The water is clear and reminds you of the ocean in the Virgin Islands. Cycling around the park provides one of the best ways to see the property. The Eastern Shore is a hidden gem on the east coast.
