When it comes to fishing there are certain places that seem to yield more fish for one fisherman vs another. There is no real exact science to it. I’ve been to fishing spots where everyone was catching around me yet I could not get a bite using the same bait! There are other times however where I am catching and no one around me is. My uncles and I have a place we go fish that we typically will always catch on the Chesapeake Bay but you will never know where it is.
Anytime I go to this spot I always come home with a cooler full of fish. In the fishing world we call this a ”honey hole.” Call it fishing superstition, but there is something about once you reveal your honey hole outside of your fishing buddy circle, you stop catching a lot there. There are rules that need to be applied when you find a good honey hole:
- Do not share where it is with anyone outside of your inner circle
- Appreciate it while it is giving back to you—be grateful for the fish you are getting out of it
- Learn what bait works best in that particular place—typically in a honey hole there is a certain bait that for some reason has the fish bitting every time
